Award-Winning Actor James Franco Joins GI Film Festival 2008!

Arlington , VA – The GI Film Festival, which will be held Armed Forces Weekend, May 14-18, 2008, is pleased to announce award-winning actor James Franco has joined the festival lineup.  Franco will receive the GI Film Festival’s “Heritage Award,” presented to an actor for excellence in portraying GI heroes in film, during a VIP reception scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2008.

 

Franco, who won a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of film legend James Dean in the 2001 TNT movie James Dean, has earned starring roles in a number of military films, including The Great Raid, Flyboys, Annapolis , and In the Valley of Elah .  He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Harry Osborne in the Spiderman trilogy.  Among Franco’s 40+ film and television credits:  Deuces Wild, Tristan & Isolde, The Company, Camille, and City by the Sea, a film in which he starred opposite Robert DeNiro.

 

Franco, named one of People Magazine’s “50 Hottest Bachelors” in 2004, is also an accomplished director.  Credits include the just-released dramedy “Good Time Max” and the soon-to-be released “Red Leaves.”
