– The GI Film Festival is pleased to announce that Emmy
Award winning actor Gary Sinise, who received the
festival’s “GI Spirit Award” in 2007, will return to
the festival in 2008. Sinise,
star of the CBS hit series CSI
New York, is scheduled to present the 2008 “GI Spirit
Award” and to host a panel discussion featuring Medal of
Honor winners on Friday, May 16.
Gary
Sinise is an accomplished film, theater and television
actor, as well as a director and producer.
In addition to an Oscar nomination for his role as
Lt. Dan in the Academy Award winning film Forrest
Gump, Sinise is a three-time Golden Globe Award nominee
and won the award in 1996 for his role in Truman.
He is a two-time
Emmy Award nominee, and won the award in 1998 for his lead
role in George Wallace.
He
is also a three-time Tony award nominee as well.

Apollo 13,
Ransom, The Green Mile, The Human Stain, Imposter, Of Mice
and Men, Reindeer Games, and A
Midnight Clear.
In
addition to his success in the entertainment field, Gary
Sinise also uses his considerable talents to support troops
stationed overseas. Along with his Lt. Dan Band (named for
his character from Forrest Gump), Sinise has embarked on
numerous USO/Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE) tours. He
has also traveled to both
Walter
Reed
Army
Medical
Center
in
Washington
,
D.C.
, and the
National
Navy
Medical
Center
in
Bethesda
,
Md.
, to visit troops wounded in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He
has recently co-founded Operation Iraqi Children with Seabiscuit:
An American Legend author Laura Hillenbrand, an effort
to help educate Iraqi children.
