Arlington,
VA – The GI Film Festival announced today that Steven
Spielberg was officially presented with an American Legion
award for directing Saving
Private Ryan, voted the “greatest war film of
all-time” according to an American Legion Magazine survey conducted in conjunction with the GI
Film Festival. (To

Captain
Dale Dye, who serves on the GI Film Festival’s
Entertainment Advisory Committee, personally presented the
award to Spielberg in
Australia
where Spielberg is directing “The Pacific,” a ten-part
mini series that will tell the intertwined stories of three
Marines during
America
's battle with the Japanese in the Pacific during World War
II.
