The GI Film
Festival, which will be held May 12-16, 2010 in Washington, DC
is pleased to announce that James ("Jay") Rosenstock, Senior
Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy at
Discovery Communications, has joined the festival’s
Entertainment Advisory Committee.
Rosenstock
oversees the evaluation and execution strategic M&A
transactions and overall corporate strategy. Recent
transactions include the formation of OWN: The Oprah Winfrey
Network (a multi-platform joint venture between Harpo and
Discovery) and the acquisition of digital media company
HowStuffWorks.
Prior to Discovery, Rosenstock oversaw U.S. M&A at Sony
Corporation of America. While at Sony, Rosenstock advised on
nearly $10 billion in transactions including the merger
creating Sony BMG Music Entertainment, the acquisition (with
partners) of legendary film studio MGM, and the acquisition of
Famous Music, Viacom's music publishing company.
Previously, Rosenstock was an investment banker to the media
and entertainment industry -- most recently at Credit Suisse
First Boston.
Rosenstock is a graduate of Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of
Business.
