Lt General Richard Hack

 

Lt. General Richard Hack retired in 2005 from one of the most important, most complex positions in the Army— the Army Materiel Command’s deputy commanding general.

Hack’s upbringing as a second generation Army officer and his time at Virginia Military Institute prepared him for the road he traveled: platoon leader, shop officer, materiel management officer, aide-de-camp, materiel and support operations officer, executive officer, commander, commanding general and AMC chief of staff.

After graduation from Command and General Staff College, Lt. General Hack was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division (MECH), Fort Stewart , Ga. , where he served as Materiel Officer (MATO) and Support Operations Officer for the 724th MSB, Executive Officer of the 24th FSB, and Chief Division Materiel Management Center .

Following his Fort Stewart assignments, Lt. General Hack commanded the 705th Main Support Battalion, 5th Infantry Division (MECH) at Fort Polk , La.   He also commanded the 24th Infantry Division Support Command, served as the Assistant Division Commander for Support for the 4th Infantry Division (MECH), Fort Hood , Texas and as Commander, 13th COSCOM, Fort Hood . Prior to this assignment he served as the Commanding General of the 21st Theater Support Command, USAREUR, Germany .

Major General Hack holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Virginia Military Institute and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology. He is also US Army War College graduate.  His military decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (4 awards), the Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards), the Army Commendation Medal (3 awards) and the Army Achievement Medal.
