Music Legend Pat Boone to Perform at Festival

The GI Film Festival, which will be held on Memorial Day Weekend 2007 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington , DC , is pleased to announce that music legend, actor, author and statesman Pat Boone has joined the festival line-up. Mr. Boone will screen his National Guard tribute film For My Country. (A major portion of the proceeds from the sale of For My Country benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America, a GI Film Festival sponsor.)

From his first appearance on The Ted Mack Amateur Hour in the 1950s to his recent return to Billboard Magazine’s R&B chart for the recent release of Pat Boone’s R&B Classics -- We Are Family -- Pat Boone continues to enjoy an iconic career. He has sold over 45 million records, chart 38 Top 40 hits, and hold the unbroken record of 220 weeks on the charts with more than one song.

Pat Boone starred in 15 movies and his books have sold millions of copies. His autobiography, Pat Boone’s America-50 Years, A Pop Culture Journey through the Last Five Decades, arrived in stores this past November 1. Pat and Shirley Boone, his wife of 50-plus years (daughter of legendary Country music star Red Foley), live in Los Angeles.

Joining Boone in a performance of "For My Country, Ballad of the National Guard" will be VALOR, a truly unique vocal group that recorded the song with the legendary Boone and appears on the music video. VALOR is currently receiving widespread acclaim for their stirring rendition of the National Anthem, being performed at numerous major sporting events around the USA,
including NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL.
