Arlington, Virginia - The First Annual GI Film Festival will be held on Memorial Day

Weekend, May 26-28,2007, at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, DC. The festival will present both classic and premier films from international and domestic filmmakers celebrating the heroic stories of the American Armed Forces and the worldwide struggle for freedom and liberty.

The three-day GI Film Festival will include:

Movie screenings by international and domestic filmmakers.

Awards presentation featuring a special celebrity major motion picture screening.

"'War Stories" educational panel featuring stories of heroism from the front lines.

VIP keynote address with cocktail reception and dinner.

Coffee chats and Q&A sessions with best-selling authors.

Kick-off cocktail reception and three VIP cocktail "after parties."

Press junket, exhibitions, Hollywood “meet and greets,” and more...

The GI Film Festival is unique among the more than 950 film festivals held in the United States each year because it focuses specifically on honoring American soldiers. Some of the films screened will be fan favorites. Others will be screened for the first time. All will in some way express the courage and selflessness of American soldiers and the value of their important work.

Everyday, we Americans live our lives and pursue our dreams under the umbrella of protection provided by the men and women in the American Armed Forces," said GI Film Festival President and Co-Director Brandon Millett, "The GI Film Festival is our opportunity to give something back to our soldiers who sacrifice everything they have so we may continue to live in freedom."

The GI Film Festival is open to filmmakers of every experience level, from first-timers to veteran directors and producers. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners of three main categories: feature, documentary, and film shorts, with the amounts to be determined at a later date.
