United
States National Guard
Just
like Firefighters and Police Officers, Guard soldiers help
American citizens in times of emergency. This film was intended to
create an understanding amongst Americans of how the National
Guard serves them and to demonstrate emotionally the character and
commitment of today's Guard soldiers. Most
civilians never have an opportunity to witness the dynamic range
of actions required to carryout the missions of the National
Guard. Thus, this film
tells a story of these capabilities and the Soldiers who risk
their lives to perform them.

With
more than 1.2 million members, Disabled American Veterans is an
organization of disabled veterans who are focused on building
better lives for disabled veterans and their families.
The organization accomplishes this goal by providing free
assistance to veterans in obtaining benefits and services earned
through their military service. It is fully funded through its
membership dues and public contributions. It is not a government
agency and receives no government funds.
DAV is the foremost representative of the interests of disabled
veterans and their families, their widowed spouses and their
orphans before federal, state, and local governments. Our National
Legislative Program ensures disabled veterans are not forgotten by
lawmakers.
The DAV was formed as our country faced the painful effects of
World War I. Throughout our 85-year history, DAV has grown and
adapted to face the needs of disabled veterans. As a new
generation of wartime disabled veterans return from the
battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, the DAV is working hard to
ensure all veterans are cared for well into the future.

Homes
for Our Troops
Homes
for Our Troops is a non-profit organization helping Servicemen
and Women who have returned home with serious disabilities and
injuries. We assist these disabled Veterans across the country
by raising donations of money, building materials and
professional labor and coordinating the process of building a
new home or adapting an existing home for handicapped
accessibility. These
homes are provided at no cost to the veteran.
The
Veterans we assist are among the most seriously injured,
including loss of multiple limbs, paralysis and traumatic brain
injuries. Many have
returned blind, deaf or with severe burns in addition to their
other injuries. They
must now struggle with relearning skills that we all take for
granted like walking, getting dressed and talking.
These
specially adapted homes are individually designed to meet the
challenges faced by the Veteran.
Taking the financial and emotional burden of finding an
appropriate home off the shoulders of the veteran and his or her
family at this disruptive point in their lives promotes a more
stable future and a better chance for physical and emotional
recovery.
In
the three years since our founding we have completed 14 projects
and we have 14 more underway across the country.

Paralyzed
Veterans of America
The
congressionally chartered Paralyzed Veterans of America
(Paralyzed Veterans) is the premier advocacy organization
working for veterans who are paralyzed as a result of a spinal
cord injury or disease (SCI/D). Paralyzed Veterans
represents more than 19,000 former service members with
(SCI/D) in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto
Rico.
Paralyzed
Veterans' foremost objective is to help veterans obtain the
health-care and other benefits they earned through service to
their country. In addition, we fund vocational
rehabilitation and wheelchair sports and recreation programs
to promote a full, active lifestyle. Through our
Architecture and Advocacy programs, the Paralyzed Veterans
defend the civil rights of people with disabilities and offer
solutions for the removal of all architectural barriers to
public buildings, housing, and businesses.
Since
our founding in 1946, Paralyzed Veterans has funded research
to find a cure for paralysis. While a cure remains
elusive, much of the information gleaned from research results
in an improved quality of life for our members and others with
a spinal cord injury or disease.

WMAL
Radio
station WMAL is one of the oldest radio stations in
Washington, D.C., broadcasting in the news-talk format at AM 630.
The WMAL call letters were also used in the past on a
Washington-area TV station (now WJLA) and FM radio station (now
WRQX).
WMAL
first went on the air on October 12, 1925, using call letters
incorporating the initials of M.A. Leese, a local optician. The
station shifted through various frequencies in its first three
years, until the Federal Radio Commission's national frequency
allocation plan assigned WMAL the AM 630 frequency in 1928; WMAL
still broadcasts on that frequency today. WMAL was a CBS affiliate
from 1928 until October 19, 1932, and then was briefly
unaffiliated until joining the NBC Blue network in January 1933;
this network later became ABC, which WMAL is still affiliated with
today. WMAL broadcast from various facilities in Washington, D.C.,
and suburban Maryland until July 25, 1973, when it settled in at
its current studio facility at 4400
Jen
ifer
Street NW in Washington, two blocks from the city's border with
Maryland. WMAL's transmitting facility, located in the Bradley
Hills section of suburban Bethesda, Maryland, also housed studios
for WMAL's AM, FM, and TV stations at one time.
WMAL
on-air hosts today, in addition to Chris Core, include
morning-show co-hosts Fred Grandy and Andy Parks, weekend host
David Burd, conservative commentator Michael Graham, gardening
hosts Jos Roozen and John Peter Thompson, investing adviser Ric
Edelman, and lawyer Mike Collins. The station also carries
national hosts Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Paul Harvey, John
Batchelor, and Dr. Dean Edell, and the Coast to Coast AM show
hosted by George Noory and Art Bell.

National
Review
Founded
by William F. Buckley Jr. in 1955 and edited by Rich Lowry,National
Review has
long been, and continues to be, America’s
most influential journal of opinion. Sure,
National Review readers are extremely affluent,
educated, and influential. But, more than anything
else, they are engaged readers, aware of issues
being debated in the public square. National
Review readers,
on average, are activists in
the best sense of the word, devoted to improving the
quality of life in their communities at both the
national and local levels. Consistently in the vanguard
of ideas and movements, they lead and shape
opinion on important political, economic, social,
and cultural issues.

Militaryspot.com
With
the tremendous success of our postal site - PostalMag.com,
we received suggestions that we also design a military site to
help American military people find and share military
information. We were reluctant at first. The military category
is huge, with five services, thousands of different jobs, and
bases and operations around the world. We researched other
sites, and found several that tried to cover everything, but
only had a little about a whole lot. But we also found many
interesting sites that expertly covered certain
segments/categories of military information. Overall, we found
that the sum of these many sites were greater than any one site
could ever hope to offer. So instead of being redundant, and
wasting our time and yours by duplicating this info on one site,
we decided to offer a military portal. For example, instead of
developing our own Army equipment facts files, we have a direct
link to the U.S. Army's online facts files. Instead of trying to
post all of the day's diverse military news, we've included
links (including up-to-the-minute Google news links) to a number
of military news sources. That way, you get all of the
news, instead of just the top headlines. We've applied this idea
across our entire Web site to give you immediate access to all
military information, not just some of it!

VetStage
Foundation
The
value of live theatre is immeasurable. VetStage offers
self-growth and education to all of its audiences. But that
could be said about all theatre companies. What makes
VetStage unique is its subject matter and the benefit that it
will have for its participants. VetStage presents one of
the best opportunities for our nation’s veterans to define
their experience and how it is perceived by the public. In
addition to that, it provides a positive, creative outlet for
veterans to process their personal experience, enable them to
make an artistic contribution to society and ease the transition
back into civilian life. Our classes for veterans are
focused on building self-confidence through playwriting, acting
workshops and performance. Our performances are always a new
experience for audiences whether it is a new rendition of
classic war and homecoming plays, or new works developed by
VetStage. We try to relate as performers to our contemporary
audience and offer new insights on our society from the
veterans’ perspective.

Operation
Care and Comfort
Historically,
Americans have shown their support to our Troops serving in
times of war in many ways. By writing letters, mailing care
packages, or by showing support for a deployed service member's
family, Americans have opened up their hearts, homes, and
wallets to show that they support those who serve. Operation:
Care and Comfort is proud to continue this tradition of
service.
Operation:
Care and Comfort, our all volunteer program, exists to
provide support and comfort to "adopted" units of
deployed U.S. military service members, serving in Iraq,
Afghanistan, and conflict regions. Working within our community
and through donations received from all over our country, we
assemble and ship care packages to our adopted units every month
until they return home. Our unique program allows caring
Americans to donate their time, talent, and treasure to honor
those serving our country during these difficult times.

The
US Army
The
Army, as one of the three military departments (Army, Navy
and Air
Force) reporting to the Department
of Defense, is composed of two distinct and equally
important components: the active component and the reserve
components. The reserve components are the
United
States Army Reserve
and the Army
National Guard.
Regardless of component, The Army conducts both operational and
institutional missions. The operational Army consists of
numbered armies, corps, divisions, brigades, and battalions that
conduct full spectrum operations around the world. (Operational
Unit Diagram and descriptions) The institutional Army
supports the operational Army. Institutional organizations
provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train, equip,
deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces. The
training base provides military skills and professional
education to every Soldier—as well as members of sister
services and allied forces. It also allows The Army to expand
rapidly in time of war. The industrial base provides world-class
equipment and logistics for The Army. Army installations provide
the power-projection platforms required to deploy land forces
promptly to support combatant commanders. Once those forces are
deployed, the institutional Army provides the logistics needed
to support them.
